Mission Possible

Our church attendance the last few months have been just plain pathetic.  I'm almost embarrassed to admit how many excuses we have come up with to sleep in or just skip the one hour of the week that really is so important.  I love our church, and specifically our pastor. Dan and I both respect and admire him so much.  Due to the recent ups and downs with Dans job situation we have been shown in more ways than one that God really is in ultimate control.  We have had so many conversations about how thankful and grateful we are in good times, and also in tough times we know we need to cast our worries on God.  Raising our daughter with God at the center of our lives is so important to us too, and attending church every week needs to be high on our priority list.  So yesterday we went back to church after a few month break... And it was definitely one of those days where everything felt like it was specifically directed to us.  The song and Pastors sermon talked so much about how anything is possible with God.  So here's to getting back on track with what's most important! I found the lyrics to the opening hymn of the day and the words could not be more perfect:

Today Your Mercy Calls Us
By: Oswald Allen

Today your mercy calls us
To wash away our sin.
However great our trespass,
Whatever we have been,
However long from mercy
Our hearts have turned away,
Your precious blood can wash us
And make us clean today.

Today your gate is open,
And all who enter in
Shall find a Father’s welcome
And pardon for their sin.
The past shall be forgotten,
A present joy be given,
A future grace be promised,
A glorious crown in heaven.

Today our Father calls us;
His Holy Spirit waits;
His blessed angels gather
Around the heavenly gates.
No question will be asked us,
How often we have come;
Although we oft have wandered,
It is our Father’s home.

O all embracing Mercy,
O ever open Door,
What should we do without you
When heart and eye run over?
When all things seem against us,
To drive us to despair,
We know one gate is open,
One ear will hear our prayer.
