I cannot believe it is about time to say goodbye to 2011… wow, the time sure does go by fast!
I wanted to take some time and reflect on the past year and also review my goals I set for 2011…
Some of my favorite moments from 2011 have been:
- a quick, snowy trip to Texas to get our boat
- becoming so close to L and finding a friend who loves the same things I do
- celebrating Dan and I’s one year anniversary
- many summer days on the boat
- watching my cousin beat breast cancer!
- concerts & weddings
- Dan & I’s trip to Big Cedar
- losing 40 pounds!
We have been very blessed this past year and were able to do so many things… I am so proud of all that we have accomplished!
Here are my goals I set for 2011 and a quick follow-up to see how I did My post on my goals for 2011 can be found here…
- Attend church more often: I am so happy with this one! Not only do we attend church every Sunday {minus the weekends we are out of town} but I also became a member! This is without a doubt an answered prayer! And even better we get to go with some of our best friends!
- Start every day with a devotional: I have been reading the Confident Woman’s daily devotional every morning and I truly believe it sets the tone for my day…
- Keep up with house/organization: I am lucky in the department that I LOVE to organize things… A few times throughout the year I take time to go through closets, drawers, cabinets, supplies, etc.… Clutter is not welcome in our home
- Begin inside home projects: Last Jan/Feb we really got to work on this one.. Dan painted the main level, we redid our kitchen, put up crown molding and new trim, stained the mantle and stairs, and replaced a bunch of light fixtures… next up: carpeting, master bedroom, and Dan’s man cave
- Landscaping in Spring: This one just did not happen… I think Dan was burnt out on projects by the time spring came around that we pushed that one off until 2012…. planning on re-doing the front porch, including landscaping and back deck this spring
- Keep up with my blog: Way more posting in 2011… and I’m so happy! I absolutely love looking back and being able to have such an easy and fun way to record our memories
- Health: I think this might be my biggest accomplishment… My goal was to change my lifestyle instead of just doing a quick fix… For the previous 3+ years I always said I was going to “change my ways” starting with the new year and I always felt like I failed… not this year… I learned so much about myself and what it takes to make my health a priority… and it also helps to have a great friend to hold me accountable! Since this time last year I have lost 40 pounds and I have tracked my food & fitness daily for 204 days! It’s definitely a part of who I am now, and I am so proud!
- Go on a mini vacation with Dan: Check! Big Cedar in November! Loved every moment of it!
- Let go of worrying/things out of my control: Still a work in progress, but such a difference in just a year… I have God, an amazing husband, great family and some great friends to thank for this!
- Zumba/Gym 2-3 times per week: I kind of called it quits with Zumba around May, I just found my gym workouts worked better for my schedule… but I maintained a successful workout routine and even bumped it up to 4-5x/week throughout the summer!
- Meal Plan every week: This started out strong, got a little rocky and now I’m back at it… Thanks to my great meal planning board it is so easy to plan out our meals
- Run a 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon: Running came back into my life this summer/fall… I love it again! But… I ran an official 5k with my Girls on the Run team in November… a Half Marathon in April… did not officially run a 10k… BUT I did participate in the Chicago 3Day Walk for the Cure… that counts for something, right?!
- Continue School: Check!
- Hand write notes/cards: I wanted to do this once a month, but just did not get around to it… maybe this year??
- Take a cooking class: Fail… still something I’d like to do though
- Show Dan how much I love & appreciate him every day: I like to think this one is a major success and hope he would say the same… I just like to be mindful of this and know that relationships take work and I want to make sure he knows how much I love him
- Take Bennett on daily walks: I am going to hold myself accountable and say I’m not happy with myself on this one… His walking schedule is very inconsistent and we need to work on this… He should be walked 2x a day… and I’m hoping to really improve here
- Take more/Organize Pictures: I did manage to take quite a few pictures and spent a few weeks printing/organizing photos into albums… I’m going to do a batch of photos a month and hopefully keep up with them that way
- Stay away from drama/gossip: This had led me to be a little more anti-social than I’m used to, but it really is a better way of life
- Wear a bikini on Memorial Day weekend and feel confident: I did wear a bikini quite often this summer and felt more confident than I have in a very long time… however, I think this coming summer will be even better!
What a year! I can only hope & pray for God’s blessings on what He has in store for us in 2012!
