Date Night!

Last night my sweet husband planned a date night for us... I was very excited to see what he had planned for our evening... and we just had the best time! We really needed some time to just be together without being distracted by anything except each other... sometimes even when we are at home we get so concerned with everything we should or have to be doing that we take each other for granted... enter the magic fix: DATE NIGHT!

We started off the evening by him coming to pick me up after he got off work... He had suggested me meeting him over in St. Louis when he got off work, but I replied with "this is a date isn't it, you probably should come pick me up" hehe...

It was so fun getting ready, and I can't help but admit that I had butterflies knowing that he had a special evening planned for us...

I decided to step out of my fashion comfort zone and try out a trend that I'm not quite sure how I felt one way or the other.... JEGGINGS
Urban Dictionary defines Jeggings as follows: "a piece of clothing which is a cross between jeans and leggings; usually made out of polyester, cotton, and spandex"... for example: "are those jeans?" ... "No! They're Jeggings; they're way stretchier"
I just couldn't decide if this was something that I would try, BUT I always have a hard time tucking my pants/jeans into my boots comfortably so I decided to purchase a pair and wear them on date night! I just have to say, I was impressed! I LOVED them! I wore them with tall brown boots, a long shirt and a long cream colored cardigan sweater... Dan even noticed something new and complimented me... it just must be the power of the jeggings :)
So we leave for the beginning of date night, and I swear our car is on auto-pilot directly to Bass Pro Shop because that was our first stop. I did not want to jump to conclusions and gave my hubby the benefit of the doubt because I was sure he had a great "reason" for implementing this stop into our date hehe...
Well I definitely should give him credit because what he did next was so sweet... My favorite "modern day" Christmas movie is Elf...
I just love everything about that movie... I could honestly watch it on repeat and never grow tired of it... and I honestly cannot even believe I have to admit that I have not watched it yet this holiday season! I used to own about 3 copies and I cannot find one of them! I've been talking about this movie since Thanksgiving... Anyways... back to date night... we walk into Bass Pro and Dan heads to the service desk to return something... and he says "take this piece of paper to those ladies standing over there"... sooo I did as I was asked... AND they handed me a FREE COPY OF ELF! Dan had apparently gotten an email saying they were giving away free copies to the first 100 rewards members and wanted to make sure I was one of them... granted I was probably the only person over 10 receiving this movie but I did not care... I was so excited and loved how thoughtful that was of my hubby :)
Next we went to dinner and then headed to see all of the Christmas lights at Santa's Magical Kingdom... could this evening get any better?!?!

Ahhhh it just took my breath away... maybe for some people this isn't the most romantic date night... but it just showed me that even though I may not realize it all the time I know that my husband really listens and pays attention to me :) I looove Christmas! Any and everything about it! Especially lights... I could look at them for hours... It was such a fun evening with my Daniel... I think its my turn to plan something for him next!

Random Fact: The Christmas Light tradition started back prior to the mid-17th century when Christians were persecuted for worshipping together in one place "having mass"... so a candle would be placed in someone's window to let other Christians know worship was taking place... then the candles on Christmas Trees began and has now evolved into the spectacular lights we get to enjoy today... Always remember the TRUE reason for the season! :)
