Here We Go... 2011!

Good Morning! I just cannot believe today we will say 'adios' to 2010... what a year it has been!

The weather/wind here is crazy today... it reminds me of a NYE when I was in college because it was so warm (just like today) that we were able to have a bonfire at my mom's... weird!

I woke up this morning excited to try out one of my Christmas gifts...

Our old blender had seen better days, and I really wanted more of a smoothie maker... I'm not a huge breakfast person, especially not 'heavy' breakfasts... I would assume not eat anything, but I know that's not healthy for me... and I do feel better if I properly fuel myself with energy for the day so I figured smoothies would be a great solution to my breakfast dilemma.... so my sweet hubby surprised me with this!

I read several different blogs, and even a famous Biggest Loser trainer references to a certain "green" smoothie... It's called so many different names, but this morning I decided I would experiment & create my first green smoothie...

My Smoothie Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • a banana
  • 1 cup of organic baby spinach
  • 1 cup low fat organic vanilla yogurt
  • 1/2 cup peaches
  • tiny bit of water

Can I get a YUM?!?!?! I love the idea of hiding spinach in the smoothie for an extra boost (and an extra serving of veggies)... The amount of ingredients created two smoothies and I was so excited to have Dan try it... Of course his first question was "why is this green?!" ... but I insisted he try it first... and he loved it! He could not believe I "hid" spinach in the smoothie! Such a great idea, and I'm so glad someone came up with it!

Yesterday I took some time to come up with my ongoing list of 2011 Resolutions... This year I set goals to challenge myself, but did not purposely set myself up for things I know are not realistic...

We are now getting ready to head to the gym before Dan meets up with a friend for lunch. THEN we are going Shopppinnnggggg :) YAY!!! After our shopping fix is fulfilled we are planning on grabbing an early dinner, and then celebrating NYE at home...

Here's to a safe, healthy, happy 2011!
