To My Mum :)

I have been thinking about writing this post for a couple days now... I know it is one that will bring tears, but hopefully happy tears... and I hope someone in particular enjoys reading this...

That special person is my mom :)

This weekend when we were house sitting, Dan picked me up from work and we headed back to her house to take care of the dogs before we decided what our plans were for the rest of the evening. Dan needed a major nap (due to the very active/playful pups that kept him up all night the night before hehe), and I decided to watch a movie... The first movie to come to mind was Mama Mia...

Now this is a significant movie in so many ways... First of all I have an extreme love and appreciation for music/musicals, and I have my mother to thank for that... She is so talented and I could listen to her play the piano for hours upon hours... Second of all my mom LOOOOVES Mama Mia... I remember when the musical was first announced to become a movie, she was SOO excited. Of course we saw it together, and have since watched it so many times... There are so many other cute reasons we love it, but one memory I will never forget happened February 19th, 2010...

That Friday evening Mom had a special surprise for Clark & I... we went to dinner at a fantastic restaurant and she announced at dinner that we were headed to The Fox to see Mama Mia... Mama Mia is a story about a a girl preparing for her wedding day, and follows the daughters story as well as the story from the mother's viewpoint... As ABBA's awesome music started, I bet Mom and I could have sang every song word for word (Clark was a really good sport too hehe)... One song in particular has left such an impression on me... I remember when this song started playing, I couldn't hold back the tears... The scene was of the mother getting her daughter ready on her wedding day... I looked over at my mom and she was sobbing and reached out to grab my hand... I will never forget the look on her face, and realized at that moment more than ever how lucky and blessed I am... oh yeah, I think I forgot to mention that the reason this was so significant is that I just so happened to get married earlier that afternoon :)
Mom: Thank you for all you have done and continue to do... I love you much much much!

School bag in hand she leaves home in the early morning
Waving goodbye with an absent minded smile
I watch her go with a surge of that well known sadness
And I have to sit down for a while
The feeling that I'm losing her forever
And without really entering her world
I'm glad whenever I can share her laughter
That funny little girl

Sleep in our eyes, her and me at the breakfast table
Barely awake, I let precious time go by
Then when she's gone there's that odd melancholy feeling
And a sense of a guilt I cannot deny
What happened to the wonderful adventures
The places I had planned for us to go
Well some of that we did but most we didn't
And why I just don't know

Slipping through my fingers all the time
I try to capture every minute
The feeling in it
Slipping through my fingers all the time
Do I really see what's in her mind
Each time I think I'm close to knowing
She keeps on growing
Slipping through my fingers all the time
Sometimes I wish I could freeze the pictures
And save it from the funny tricks of time
Slipping through my fingers all the time...
