Six Weeks of Reflection

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday which was the beginning of Lent. Lent is the season leading up to Easter (46 days-Sundays=40 Days=6 Weeks)...

I was raised Lutheran and we observed Lent but did not require the fasting or "no meat on Fridays" rule... Although I do not claim a specific denomination besides being a Christian, I have never felt a stronger relationship with God than I do now...

Lent is special to me because it focuses on the ultimate sacrifice made FOR us to give us Hope :) No one is perfect, but especially during this time of year I personally find it very important to remember how lucky we are...
In 6 weeks we will celebrate on Easter... and along with Easter spring arrives! (sunshine, flowers, and warmth)... and I cannot tell you how ready I am for that :)

I like to practice Lent for the full 6 weeks by sacrificing something challenging, but also implementing something positive into my life...

Here is my plan...

Sacrifice:
  • Soda

  • Fried Food

  • Sweets

  • Swearing

Positive Increase:

  • Attend church more

  • Love Dare

  • Focus on feeding my body healthy foods

  • Eat out less/cook more

  • BE NICE!

Update: (Day 2) Doing great so far... except...

I never would have thought I use swear words that much... but 8 times in the last two days??? Holy Cow!!! Every time I cuss I have to put a quarter in the cup... my brother and I are challenging each other... I know as I become more and more aware it will get easier... besides ladies don't cuss, right Mom??? :)
