Book Review: Water For Elephants

I first heard about this book from a client in the salon, and tucked it away in my "to-read list" for quite a while... then the movie came out and for whatever reason I did not dive into this book until about a week ago... and I'm so sad I waited so long...

This book had me hooked from the first page as you figure out the characters and also flash back and forth between one of the main characters memories of the circus to their present life...

One major topic of discussion regarding this book was the presence of animal cruelty... I have to admit it wasn't a huge issue for me; however, I did think the author did a fantastic job of describing and illustrating how life was for both the workers & the animals during that time of circus life... {don't get me wrong my heart melted for a certain elephant}...

I felt this book to be a quick & easy read... and would absolutely recommend it to anyone...

Although I missed the movie in the theaters, I'm anxiously awaiting it to come out on DVD so I can soak up more of this story :)
